About The Fourth Trimester

Published

The Fourth Trimester is an education site about mental health in pregnancy and the first year after birth, written for parents in Central New Jersey: Middlesex, Monmouth, Somerset, Ocean, Union, and Mercer counties. It is not a healthcare provider and it is not a crisis service. Nothing here diagnoses or treats anyone.

If you need help right now

If you or your baby are in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988. The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline, 1-833-852-6262, answers 24 hours a day. More numbers are on our Get Help page.

Who runs this site

The Fourth Trimester is owned and operated by ZSKFL Management. ZSKFL Management holds an ownership interest in two treatment providers that this site mentions: Emerald Wellness, an outpatient practice in Kendall Park, and South Jersey Recovery Program. When we point you to either of them, we say so on that page. Every other organization on the site is listed as a resource only.

How we write and check articles

  • Articles that state a statistic, a study finding, or a law are based on published research or a public health source, such as studies indexed in PubMed, the CDC, ACOG, Postpartum Support International, or the State of New Jersey, and they link that source on the page. A few shorter pieces are practical guidance and do not cite studies.
  • Every page on the site was checked in full fact-check reviews in September 2026, and new or changed pages are checked before they go up. Each factual claim, statistic, law, and phone number is checked against the source it came from, and phone numbers against the organization's own website.
  • The articles are general information, not medical advice. They cannot account for your history, your symptoms, or your medications. Use them to make sense of what you are feeling and to prepare for a conversation with a clinician.
  • Each article shows the date it was first published and, if it has changed since, the date it was last updated.
  • Some pages are also in Spanish and Hindi. Translations go through the same fact check as the English page.
